Volunteer at York Scout Activity Centre

York Scout Activity Centre is run and developed by a dedicated team of volunteers who help keep the site running, improve facilities and create amazing experiences for young people and visitors.

We are always looking for enthusiastic people who would like to get involved and help us continue developing the centre.

You don’t need to be a Scout leader or have previous experience — just bring your skills, enthusiasm and willingness to help.

A Range of Volunteer Roles

There are many ways to get involved, depending on your interests, skills and the time you have available.

Wardens

Our wardens help oversee the day-to-day running of the site. This can include welcoming visiting groups, helping them settle in and ensuring the site is safe and ready for use.

Wardens play an important role in helping visitors have a great experience at the centre.

Service Team

Our service team helps maintain and develop the site. This may involve:

• Site maintenance and repairs

• Woodland management

• Building and installing new activity features

• Preparing areas for events or activities

If you enjoy practical work and being outdoors, this is a great way to contribute.

Customer Services

Customer service volunteers help support the bookings process and ensure visitors receive the information they need before arriving.

This might include:

• Responding to enquiries

• Helping with booking administration

• Supporting visiting groups with information about the site

Marketing & Fundraising

Helping to promote the centre and secure funding is vital for our future development.

Marketing and fundraising volunteers may help with:

• Promoting the centre to new audiences

• Supporting fundraising campaigns

• Building relationships with partners and sponsors

• Developing promotional materials

Web Design & Social Media

If you have digital or creative skills, you can help us grow our online presence.

This could include:

• Maintaining and improving the website

• Creating social media content

• Promoting activities and events

• Supporting digital marketing campaigns
